Bio as a sailor: Adrian Finglas has raced and coached at both an International and Olympic standard. He has under his belt 9 National titles in Australia in classes ranging from 420,470, and 505, both as helmsman, and as crew. In 1991 he represented Australia at the Pre-Olympics in Barcelona in the 470 class. In 1995 he was selected on the Americas cup program for One Australia, Sydney 95, testing for 9 months as Trimmer and then did the Americas cup challenger series in San Diego 1995 as the Port Trimmer.
Having raced as a professional Triathlete and representing Australia at both Sailing and Triathlon world championships gives him the ability to understand and implement an athlete’s coaching or sailing program of the highest International standard.
Bio as a Coach: His Teams have won Gold at the 1997 Youth Worlds in South Africa and Bronze at the 2001 Youth Worlds in France. Both of these programs were long term and at the leading edge of coaching and dinghy sailing technology.
He has coached for the National Sailing Teams of Myanmar and Singapore, winning three Gold Medals at the South East Asian Games 2001 in the Laser 2 class and 420 Men and Women.
Training in both an America’s Cup and Volvo Around the world teams has exposed Adrian to professional leadership required to be a part of a big boat campaign structure. Over the last 5 years, he has diversified into full time professional sailing contracts, both coaching and racing big boats.
Adrian is currently the Australian Paraympic coach in the Skud class. He has come straight from his position as Queensland’s High Performance Coach to lead the Australian Yngling Team to Gold in Beijing 2008.
